Located in Tirunelveli district in Tamilnadu. This has diverse geographical features, which supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. The terrain of the Sanctuary is rolling and has narrow water streams. This covers about 567 sq km which mainly comprising of thick evergreen forest. The high mountain ranges of the Western Ghats have dense cover of evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grasslands. In addition, the marshy areas are full of tall grasslands, making the region one of the good habitats of large mammals. The thick vegetation of the Mundanthurai Sanctuary provides both excellent cover and nourishment.
The moderate and favorable climatic conditions in and around Mundanthurai Sanctuary support a unique and diverse wildlife. Mundanthurai Sanctuary has variety of wild creatures like spotted here includes Tiger, Mouse deer, Leopard, Rusty spotted cat, Brown palm civet, Leopard, Sambhar, Spotted deer, Malabar giant squirrel, Nilgiri Langur, Bonnet Macaque, Sloth Bear, Brown mongoose, Nilgiri Martin, Indian pangolin, King Cobra, Python, Monitor Lizard, Flying Lizard, Pit viper and many more.
The species of birds found in Mundanthurai Sanctuary include the Whistling Thrust, Emerald Dove, Green Pigeon, Tickell's Flower Pecker, Rufus Wood Pecker, Rose Ringed Parakeet, Black Eagle, Great Indian Malabar pied, Horn Bill, Fiary Blue Bird, Green Billed Malkhoha and more.

The best time to visit the park is from October to January.
